Jeffrey Dinghua Lei is a Chinese-American writer/director based out of Los Angeles. Born in New Orleans and having also lived in San Francisco and New York City, his world-view has been greatly influenced by individuals across all cultures and socio-economic backgrounds. He is driven to tell stories that explore the complexities of interpersonal relationships, including friendship, family dynamics, and personal identity, aiming to illustrate how empathy learned through personal connections can extend to all.

He’s produced, directed and edited a number of editorial shorts for clients such as HuffPost and TodayTix, as well as written, produced and directed a number of fictional shorts. He has written multiple feature film screenplays that have finaled at the Atlanta Film Festival, Austin Film Festival, and the Final Draft Big Break Screenwriting Competitions, in addition to appearing at #1 on the Coverfly Red List. As a producer, Jeffrey has worked on several festival-premiering films, including “Catch a Monster” (Short film - Tribeca ’16, Palm Springs ‘16), “Reframe” (Short film - Nantucket ’23), and “A Taste of Sky” (Feature Documentary - Copenhagen Dox ‘19 and Tribeca ‘19).

As a concert photographer, he has worked with musicians such as The XX, Chance the Rapper, The Japanese House & more.

He is currently a co-owner and operating partner at Aleph Films and developing his debut feature film.
